Asian Festival

Hey guys! I haven't blogged in awhile so I thought I'd keep you up to date on what's going on. ;)

Well, the housesitting went well. It was nice to get away from my crazy family and have some time to myself. Plus Pheth's house is ahhhmazing. And she paid me very well, indeed.

Fast forward to Friday. Friday night Pheth decided she wanted to take me shopping. We went to TJ Maxx and Belk, but I couldn't find anything I particularly liked. Luckily, afterwards we went to Starbucks and got the usual. :) (Grande Strawberries & Creme Frap.) Then I went home and took a nap and did some laundry. I know, I'm a boring individual. But hey, it gets better. Later that night Viv calls and invites me to go to the Asian Festival in Columbus. I of course obliged.

Saturday comes around and I'm very excited. I was gonna go with Pheth and Viv. It was very fun indeed. (and hot.) There were tons of people and lots of delicious food. We walked around a bit, looked around the little shops, looked at the displays, watched the dancing (which was very good btw.), and finally had some food. We ended up getting fried bananas, some lao chicken on a stick, and some rice cakes with molasses. Yummmmm. :) We also watched her cousin play this Asian game which is like volleyball and soccer combined. You have the traditional volleyball net, albeit a little shorter, and you kick the little ball over.  It was very interesting. The announcer was also hilarious, although they had to translate for me because he was speaking in Lao. Anyway, I got a really cute Asian sun umbrella while I was there. It's dark blue with pink blossoms. It's beautiful! ... And very helpful, because it was like 90 degrees that day.

After that excursion, we went the Easton, which is basically the best mall EVER! First we went to Anthropologie, which is Viv's favorite store. I can't afford much there, but I did find this really cute journal. It's called the Non-planner datebook. It's a very creative and cute way to write about your day, or whatever's going on. Then we went to Forever 21. I loooove that store. I got this really adorable sailor type tank dress. It has red and white stripes on the top, which a cinched waist, and then a blue flowy bottom. I also got a white top which also sinches at the waist and has ruched flowers. Then I also got a few camis. When I went to check out I had the most adorable guy help me. He asked if I wanted to buy the recyclable bag and of course I had to say yes. It's cute, though. It's blue and has a panda on it with glasses.

After we were done shopping we went to this delicious sushi place. I can't remember the name, but I think it's Edamame or something like that. I got some Hibachi chicken with fried rice and a salad. The food there was amazing. And then we ended the meal with some lovely Starbucks. Yummmmmm. :D

After all of the fun of the day, it was time to go home. It was about 1:00 AM by the time that we got there. I just spent the night with Viv. We had church in the morning anyway.

Church was the same. It was a good service. It was talking about the church camp that they kids were going to go to. I'll admit, I was a little distracted. There was the most ADORABLE baby sitting behind me. It was sooo cute. It even had an adorable little grin. It was such a happy baby. Not to mention that the father was also very cute. hehe. :) Anyway, that's my weekend  in a nutshell. I hope everyone has a lovely Memorial Day!

La Inducción de honor español

Hey guys! What's up? Thought I'd fill you in on what happened over the week. It was pretty eventful.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday was KTTC testing or something like that. Can't remember the exact name. Ohh, well. It doesn't matter. All you need to know about it is that it's Kentucky state testing to measure how much you've learned and know thus far.

Tuesday was math. Super easy. I loved this test the most (even though I hate math) because I'm good at it and because the open responses are extremely simple. I did very well. There were three parts and we went through to 6th period. Although I'm confident that I did extremely well, it kind of sucked because we had WAYYYYYYY too much time. It was ridiculous. You get 2 hours 40 minutes for the first two parts, and most of the students got done in the first 60. 'Why don't you just read?' you may be thinking. Well, after I was finished with my test, I pulled out my novel.

"It's okay, you can read it," My principal, Mr. Dowdy, said.
Not 5 seconds passed before my counsellor, Mr. Carroll, yelled: "No reading while the tests are out." Awesome. I had an hour and forty minutes to sit there. I was so upset. At the time I was reading a Northern Light by Jennifer Connelly. I wanted to finish it so I could return to my friend Lexi. Whatevs.

Wendesday was Science and Thursday was Social Studies. Both were pretty easy. Once again, I had tons of free time left. I'm just glad that it's over.

Friday was very easy since the teachers were easy on us because they knew we were exhausted from testing. In Sociology we finished Shaw Shank Redemption, in Spanish IV we finished Avatar, (the seniors were watching it while we were testing.) and in English we read outside. It was a beautiful day, so it was hard to concentrate on our novel. (Right now we're reading the Great Gatsby. Pretty good read.)

Friday afternoon I mostly relaxed. I listened to music, cleaned a bit, and did my weekly laundry. Then around midnight Viv picked me up to go to her house. She just got back from Columbus and we were going to volunteer the next morning.

So Saturday we got up around 7:30 to get ready. I know, it's very early. Craziness. It was actually fun, though. We were to clean up Ironton but planting flowers, pulling the weeds, and fluffing the mulch. We weren't there for too long because so many people signed up to volunteer. How awesome is that? I love volunteering.

After that we went home and took showers, because by then we were filthy. Once we were clean we got Panera Bread (YUMMMMM.) and then went back home to take naps. We were all very exhausted. It'd been a long day.

Dinner was the best part, however. We had Korean steaks, white rice, salads, and this amazinggggg fluffy strawberry pastry covered in strawberries, bananas, and chocolate drizzle. Every part was impeccable. Viv really is an amazing cook! Yummm. I love Korean steaks. :)

After we cleaned up the kitchen and did the dishes it was off to a late-night movie. The movie of choice: Kickass. And Kickass it was. I absolutely loved it!!! It's a perfect story. I don't know which part was my favorite, Hit Girl or how Dave finally got his girl. It was very cute. I suggest you go see it. :)

Today was alright. I had a Spanish Honorary Induction ceremony. I really didn't wanna go, but it wasn't that bad. I felt very anxious before-hand, but once I got there I felt mostly at ease. And it only lasted about 20 minutes! I thought it would last an hour. We got a cute little pin, a candle that we had to light, a certificate, and a carnation. Then after everyone got that, the seniors got their tassels. Once it was over there was cake. It was sooo delicious. Sra. LeMaster also said that the classes would be eating the leftovers because there would be so many pieces left over! AWESOMENESS! hehe. I love cake.

Once I left, Viv took me over to Pheth's to housesit. It feels weird having such freedom, but it's nice. I've been reading, lounging, and drinking hot cocoa. :) If only I had my license. It would make this ordeal so much easier. Ohh, well. Well, I've talked enough. Hope you guys had a wonderful weekend!!

Pedicure :)

Hey guys! What's up? I haven't blogged in a bit so I thought I would keep you posted on what's going on.

Last weekend was ahmazinngggg. I hung out with my cousin Viv, Pheth, and Mo. It was a girl's weekend, because it's Mo's birthday this Thursday. :) Friday we went shopping to find Viv a steamer to clean her floors. We went to Kyova Mall, but they didn't have what she was looking for so we went to the Ashland Mall. She ended up getting the Haan. Any of you use it? It works very well. (I saw this chick with like crazy 6 inch hills on. Who wears heels to the mall? She's obviously crazy. Had a cute bf, though.) We also had some yummy Laotian food at Pheth's house. Mmmmm. When we went home we cleaned for awhile. The Haan is like the God of steamers. I recommend you trying it! It works amazingly. Anyway, we got hungry, so we made a late-night run to Taco Bell! It's even better at night, I swear! Mmmmm. I always get 2 soft tacos and a Mango Strawberry Frutista Freeze. Yummmmm. :) Then we watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. That movie is seriously cute! It's not just for kids, either. I very much enjoyed it.

Anyway, Saturday was a Girl's day. We all went to get our hair done. Well, they did. I didn't. I'm growing my hair out for Locks of Love. They all looked amazing though. They went to Viv's hair stylist, Rick. He's hilarious! & oddly enough, bought a house right across the street from me. Craziness. Anyway, he was very good and made them all look super pretty and young. We also picked up the flowers for the Gma's grave. The flowers were gorgeous! They're waiting to put them out until after Memorial Weekend, however, because last time they got stolen. Who does that? Stealing from the dead??? Seriously, people. Come on.

After that, we all went to eat at Subway! Yummm. Seriously delish. Then we went to drop something off at Pa Py's, then went to get a Pedicure!! YAYY. I've never had one before, so I was very excited. I know, I need to go out more often, but it was seriously fun and relaxing! I got a pretty royal blue with light blue sparkles on top. :) It was just what I needed.

Then we went back to Pheth's and had some more delicious Laotian food. It was some type of spring roll with a peanut sauce. I would go into more detail but I can't remember what the dishes are called. ha. Sorry! They were good, though. I suppose that's all that matters. I ended up spending the night again, because we were supposed to make my hair "big." Big hair is in, apparently. No one told me this!! We totally forgot though. We ended up drinking wine and watching Serendipity and Notting Hill. Both were great films, but I preffered Notting Hill because it had Hugh Grant in it and I find him extremely sexy. hehe. As for the wine, they mostly drank it, and Viv mixed me a drink of Southern Belle and Canada Dry. It was my first time trying it, so I had to mix it in. I need to start out drinking white anyway. It was good, although the Southern Belle is veryyyyy strong.

Sunday we had some yummy Pho at Pa Py's before going to the Huntington Mall to go shopping. We didn't get to stay very long because Pheth was tired, but I did get this GORGEOUS beige Trench from Macy's that was only $31!! Amazing. I've always wanted one, and it's beautiful. It has a bow on the back, cinches at the waist, and ties around. It's double breasted. I love it! Shall wear it soon. We also went to Victoria's Secret, but I didn't buy anything. Plus I have like 1234823974297343209 pairs of undies from there. hehe. :)
This week at school shall be easy. We're doing state testing Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday so we won't be doing any school work. The only sucky part is that it lasts FOREVERRRRR! The Math portion that we're taking tomorrow is going through 6th period, possibly. Isn't that ridiculous? Sheesh. Ohh, well. When we're done we're allowed to read so I'll be able to catch up my reading on the Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly.Beautiful book. Not going to tell you the plot because I want you to figure out for yourself. ;)

One last thing before I sign off, I get to house sit! YAYY! Pheth is going to France for two weeks for her best friend's son's wedding. Obviously she needs someone  to take care of her house while she's gone, and she asked me to! YAY! I go over Thursday and stay til the 14th! I'm very excited to get away from my parents and brother for a little while. Maybe I can get some sanity back. The only problem is that I don't have my license (I probably won't ever get it.) so my mum has to take me to school and my dad home. Ohh, well. I guess it could be worse.

Also, this is kind of random, but I got my ACT scores back. I got a 25. I know that's an okay score, but I really wanted a 28. Should probably end up taking it again, but I am most definitely dreading it! Ugh. I hate that test. I've already taken it twice! I will probably end up retaking it in hopes of getting a 28, but we'll see. I'll let you know. Well, I better sign off. Gonna read some before bed and this post is ridiculously long enough as it is. Night!

The Weekend

I haven't blogged in awhile so I thought I'd tell you about last weekend.

On Friday I got to hang with my cousin Viv and Aunt Pheth. It was the Laotian New Year, so we had to go visit their grandma's grave to help her with the afterlife. It was sweet. She definitely had the best tomb, though, not gonna lie. It was amazing! We also brought her french fries from McDonalds, because she likes them. And three packets of ketchup, because she doesn't like wasting.

Then we went to Pheth's. We got Wendys. Yummm. Pheth was really sick with Bronchitis, however. I felt really bad for her. Then we went to Viv's and watched Nothing Like the Holiday's. It's a cute movie.

Oooooh, in the morning we made, well she made banana pancakes. Mmmm, with fried cinnamon apples and turkey bacon! I've never had banana pancakes, but they were so delectable. I also had the urge to sing Banana Pancakes by Jack Johnson. :) I love that song. Then we watched Paper Heart. It had Charlyne Yi and Michael Cera in it. It was very cute! It's a bit of an indie movie, with Charlyne playing the fictionalized version of herself. Her character doesn't believe in true love, so she goes across the country trying to find different people's opinions about love. & the reenactments are the best part! You just have to watch it. It's on Instant Queue for those of you who have Netflix.

Not to mention I got some awesome music from my cousin Jeffrey. My favorites from his list were Dizzy Balloon and Two Door Cinema Club. Both are very good. They're definitely alternative, chill music. Very cute. Go check them out.

I also got this awesome app for those of you iPhone and iTouch lovers. It's called my style, and it's a fashion assistant. You take pictures of the things in your wardrobe and it helps you organize your things. It also, helps you pick out outfits, track your daily wear, and much more. Go check it out, it's only $.99. :)

That's about it for my weekend. As for my week, it's been very boring. School's been okay. Not to busy, because we're gearing towards the end of the year, but it's still boring nonetheless. I'm just ready for this weekend. It should be fun. I'll blog about it later. Hope everyone is having a great week. Leave me comments, if you like. I'm not sure anyone is reading this. Ohh well.

Blue Denim Shorts

Hey there, bloggers. I just thought I'd ask for your advice, if any of you are reading this.

I have to write a poem about shorts using sensory details. Not to be confused with a short poem. Quite literally, I mean shorts. Here's what I have thus far, and just wanted to get some opinions. haha Mind you, this isn't particularly a serious poem. Also, I suck at writing poetry.

On the first day of Spring,
I wore my blue denim shorts.
They smelled like fresh flowers in the field,
they were soft and hugged my legs as I walked,
and the newly found spring breeze lightly brushed against me.
The sun seemed to shine a little brighter when I wore my blue denim shorts,
and the air a little fresher.
I love my blue denim shorts.

So that's it! Please feel free to give me your comments. Thanks!

Schooool.

So I'm actually kind of excited for school tomorrow, which is weird. However, I have a really cute outfit picked out! It's a white 3/4 sleeve white top, and a really cute plaid skirt. It's very cute. Kind of 50-esque. Also, I have really cute white flats. I might post a pic later. (I realize that I used the word "cute" about 3234322 times. I apologize.)

I'm also going to go to the gym tomorrow for the first time in ages. I love going to the gym, especially when my "gym lova" goes. I know, I'm totally a creeper. I just can't help it! He has the cutest calves. ha. (I have a calf fetish.) I know, I'm weird, but they are literally the most beautiful calves I've ever seen. ha. I'm pretty sure he doesn't know I exist. Not to mention, he's in his 30's. I just can't help myself. ha.

So I thought I'd give you guys an overview of my teachers, so that if I'm talking about one of them you'll know who I'm talking about.

1st period: Pre-Calc. My teacher is Mrs. Riddle. She's super sweet and v. patient. The only problem is that sometimes she's a little slow when it comes to teaching, and I really haven't learned anything new. I mean, I've learned a few things, but it's basically a review of Alg 2. I guess I shouldn't be complaining. It's an easy class. The biggest problem is that we have homework EVERY night. That's what you'll get from math, I suppose. Ugh. I hate math. ha.

2nd period: World Civ: (Just a note: I am a junior, so I should be in APUSH (A.P. U.S. History) but since I took that when I was in Columbus, they put me in a sophomore class.) My teacher is Mr. Wittich. He is bald, funny, and lovable. I love Mr. Wittich! He's great. Also, I love this class because it's very easy. Sure, it has work, but it's pretty easy stuff. I also loooove history, so I can't complain. The only downside is being in a sophomore class. It's not that bad, though. They're all v. nice and quite funny. There isn't a dull moment in there.

3rd period: A.P. Spanish IV. My teacher is Sra. LeMaster. She's okay, sometimes. The annoying thing about this class is that we do the same thing, TRANSLATIONS! Ohhhh, how I hate those! It's the same thing, every time. Vocab day, translation, translation test, vocab test, rinse, repeat. Seriously, we don't learn anything. Can't we do some grammar or something? It's not that I'm bad at Spanish, I'm great at languages. It's just that I wish that we were actually learning something. & translating is just a pain in the ass. She does have her funny moments. She usually speaks her mind, which I admire. However, she tends to play favorites.

4th period: Anatomy. My teacher is Mr. Graham. I loooove Mr. Graham. He's hilarious! This class is great. It's one of my favorites. He seems to think he's ridiculously good looking, (Like Zoolander.) but it's hilarious that he actually keeps up with today's music. & I love his extra credit questions. They're usually funny.

5th period: Sociology. My teacher is Mr. Bradley. This is truly the easiest class of the day. Mr. Bradley is great. We don't do very much work in this class at all and the tests are extremely easy. Also, after every chapter we get to watch  a movie. How awesome is that?

6th period: Acc. English III. My teacher is Mrs. Bowling-Meade. I love her! She's hilarious. Although we do have a lot of work in that class, I truly enjoy it because my classmates are hilarious. & when she's not stressed out she's a character. V. funny and sweet. She also has v. cute outfits.

7th period: Chem. My teacher is Mr. Zeller. Ohhhh, Mr. Zeller. I will probably be talking about him the most. I hate this man! He's a total idiot. He doesn't know how to teach, and he's insulting. I mean, he seriously doesn't know what the hell he's doing. He definitely plays favorites, and totally hates me the most. You may think I'm overreacting, but if you were in my shoes you would totally agree. He makes fun of me everyday, and when he's not doing that he's putting me on the spot. He loves to embarrass me. Also, when I've asked him to go to the bathroom (which only happened 2 times this year) he said no, and proceeded to let another girl go. You may be saying to yourself, go between classes. Well, I can't very well do that because there's construction going on campus and we barely have enough time to get to each class. He's unprofessional, unkind, and unkempt.

Well, that's an overview of my schedule! I can't believe I posted twice today. Enjoy :)

xx Britt

ACT

So I took the ACT yesterday. I'm soooo glad that it was over. So this is how it went down.

I only got like 2 hours of sleep, probably because I was nervous and because Spring Break fucked up my sleeping schedule. So I was a little tired.  I got up, got dressed. (Put on some sweats. I didn't think that many people would be there.) & got breakfast. (Cereal, yummmmm.) After I got ready to go, we left.  I was very nervous. Once we got there, I went to the lobby. It was ridiculously crowded!! I found one of my friends, but it was awkward because I was like  all up on this guy. Sorry, dude. Also, I was one of the few wearing sweatpants. What's up with that? Craziness.

Anyway, once we finally got to go to our classrooms,  I felt a little better. Our room didn't have very many people in it because it was the one for the people taking the writing test. Talk about unambitious people!! ha. I'm only taking it because I'm applying to a few schools that are out of state.  I guess they don't feel the same way.

Amongst the nervousness, there was something that made me feel a little better... the man next to me had a mullet!! (I was dying inside, I'd never seen one in person before.) I know this is silly, but when you've only had 2 hours of sleep, everything seems funny to you. haha :) It was amazing.  He had a matching beard, which totally added to the effect.  I know, mean. But it was extremely hilarious.

Luckily, the test administrator didn't want to be there anymore than we did, so she made sure that we got out on time. I'm hoping I did well, but I don't wanna jinx it. I just really hope that I get a 28, because that's my goal. Also, I really really really really really really don't wanna take it again! haha
Anyway, school is tomorrow. Not looking forward to it. Especially since I just woke up at 4:50. ha. I know! I just couldn't seem to get out of bed. Ohh, well.

That's my adventure taking the ACT. I hope you enjoyed it.
